AWAY FROM IT ALL – APART FROM THE POLICE ESCORT.
When Britain’s ‘pop’ group THE BEATLES arrived in NEW YORK on Friday to begin their visit, they were greeted by fan scenes to equal, or even outdo, anything they have met in this country, for NEW YORK is suffering from a really big attack of ‘BEATLEMANIA’. They were met at the airport by thousands of screaming fans, and their hotel has been besiged, but they did manage to get a little peace when police smuggled them out of the side door of the hotel for a trip to the nearby Central Park.
PHOTO SHOWS: A few moments alone for the BEATLES in Central Park, apart from the police escort. GEORGE HARRISON was missing because he has been suffering from a sore throat, but is now recovering.
